Why is the Right winning?

Don't go far Left... That's what doom look like!

Political questions are far too serious to be left to the politicians
this quote from the famous German-American philosopher fits very right in the current political situations around the world.

This, brings us a serious question!
"Why the right is on a rise in this decade?", a question that remains unanswered to many. Here, I bring you my thoughts about the scenario that's underlying around the world.
From Trump in the US, to Narendra Modi in India, to Boris Johnson in the UK, to Shinzo Abe in Japan, to Vladimir Putin in Russia, to Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel, to Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil, the populist right has taken over everywhere, voters around the world have concerns over the adverse effects of globalization, a dilution of national identity and culture, the topics which the left seems to be neglecting from it's extreme politics and voters have reservations regarding that and the phenomenon is all over!

Nationalism has always been a feature across Europe's political spectrum but there has been a recent boom in voter support for the right-wing and populist parties. It is visible from Germany, where AfD has become the biggest opposition party in the Bundestag, to Spain, where Vox has become the the third largest force in the parliament.

The recent defeat of the Labor in the UK, in fact it's worst performance in more than 8 decades has added more substance into this ongoing debate. This has fueled a debate in the US again as Donald Trump goes for election in less than 6 months, where we saw that how extreme left stance of Presidential candidates of Democrat Party forced the former President Barack Obama calling them "A Circular Firing Sqaud". The same thing is visible from the last two general elections in India, where the left is no where to be seen and even left-to-center party like the Indian National Confress has been literally decimated, while the right-wing BJP has emerged victorious again in 2019 General Elections, even with a better majority.

So, talking of all this, I give you a few key takeaways that I find in this changes political scenario of the world:
  1. Rise of Nationalism: The right-wing parties around the world seems to be riding on a high nationalism fervour, which the left seems to be not at all interested, this is completely obnoxious, given the fact that your opposition thrives on it and thus, playing into their hands.
  2. Misconception ("Answer to Right-Wing Populism is Left-Wing Populism"): The left needs to think and speak on things like culture, nationalism, rather than ridiculing it. Human Beings are not robots, they don't live just by figures only, they have feelings and sentiments. These can be nationalistic, religious or cultural, and the left needs to respect that.
  3. Left-Liberals are an urban group now: The left-liberal community has made a very unusual misconception in their minds that people who are religious, nationalistic, have love for their culture cannot be liberal. This has lead to thinning out of the liberal clan and confinement to urban pockets where they sit and gossip the right, completely disconnected from the masses. They have just been consumed with academia, talking about vile narratives of idealism that can only exist in books.
  4. Twitter: Twitter has done the greatest damage to the left-liberals, while the right seems consolidated, the left seems to be discrediting themselves, anyone saying a bit less radical is discredited and ridiculed. (Ex: The New Labour in UK, calling Tony Blair a "War Criminal")
All these made the left a more cocoon like, an urban, then urban intellectual, and then a tiny Club to which the working classes found, a sort of prohibiting to enter, the sense of alienation increased. (Ex: The shifting of Working Class Votes to Conservatives and the Rural and Dalit Votes to Modi in India). Now, this went a step further when the new Liberal-left, powered by Twitter and other media started "judging the rest", "setting the bar too high for them" and adopted a "Cancel Culture" passion. The left needs to understand that "people think ordinarily" and not like intellectuals. And, what's the result of all this, it has lead to a steep decline in the left-liberal community around the world.

The left at times became so powerful and successful that they became elitest in their own way, they celebrated globalization because they benefited from it and then they started spending most of their time on more esoteric topics such as "Climate Change", "WTO" and "Free Trade" as they found peasants and workers issues "too boring and mandane" and because they left these issues, the populist right took those away, and so now you've this state of this world.

And, in order to counter this situation and the right, the left-liberals needs to discover Nationalism, Culture and need to be less Brahminical. In their test of purity for others, they need to be more accepting and inclusive amongst themselves. Either you "Discover or Die" and "Go back to your student politics".
